It rarely happens that everyone in town, talks positively about anyone company! Ahmedabad-based Avadat Apparels is one company everyone loves praising.
And there are reasons!
Under the leadership of Sachin Shah, an engineer, the company is not only growing but also setting new benchmarks with expansion, using maximum technology and employee-friendly policies. The company does focus on sustainability.
Producing more than 1,50,000 pieces per month in 3 units, the company recently started manufacturing of cotton trousers high and Chinos. And now it is going to add 200 machines to get the benefit of Gujarat apparel policy.
After visiting Google campus, Sachin was inspired to bring in changes in his organisation and started giving more freedom to the creative team;recently he introduced a no-timing policy. The employees of the company can enter anytime and can leave anytime and are not bound to spend certain hours in the company premises. The success rate of this idea has been around 80 per cent.
It has also invested in its ERP which has proved to be very fruitful. “I must suggest all the entrepreneurs to invest in technology as it will help them take better decisions and reduce dependency on middle-level management. Technology is a must to make a system-driven company rather than a people-driven one,” he says.
The company is focusing more on value addition and complicated products. Besides catering to bulk orders, the company is happily working with such retailers who normally offer order between 1,000 and 6,000 pieces.
Moving forward,Avadat Apparels is focusing more on sustainability and saving the resources. “I am happy to see that Indian retailers are asking for sustainable products including those retailers who are mainly into massmarket; so very soon in India, there will be a good demand for sustainable products and the country’s next generation would not mind paying extra for sustainable products.” The company is coming up soon with eco-friendly denim collection as it has specialised kind of wash requiring very little water. It is also doing organic dungarees.
