Zara founder Amancio Ortega has bought a logistics centre mainly used by Amazon in Dublin, Ireland, for € 225 million.
According to reports, Ortega’s investment business Pontegadea revealed the acquisition last week, calling it the “largest and most valuable logistics deal ever to have taken place in the Irish market.”
It is the firm’s first investment in logistics property in Ireland, and it is located in Dublin’s Baldonnell Business Park. It purchased a luxury residential property in Dublin with 120 flats for rent in March for roughly € 100 million.
Marta Ortega, Ortega’s daughter, took over as chair of Zara owner Inditex Group in April of last year, succeeding Pablo Isla, who had been chairman since 2011 and CEO before that.
Inditex announced a 13.5 per cent year-on-year gain in revenue of € 16.9 billion between 1st February and 31st July, following good spring/summer 23 sales in September.
