French luxury fashion house Yves Saint Laurent has announced the departure of its Creative and Image Director Hedi Slimane, who took over from the French maison in 2012. Under the supervision of Slimane, the label managed to bring back its utmost modernity and fashion authority, while keeping alive and respecting its original vision, the press release from the company mentions. The new collection – ‘Yves Saint Laurent Couture’ or ‘Saint Laurent Paris 24, Rue de L’Université’ is the fashion house’s first couture collection ever since the retirement of its founder in 2002.
Appreciating the work done by Slimane during his tenure, Francesca Bellettini, President & CEO of Yves Saint Laurent, averred, “I would like to thank Hedi Slimane very much for his vision in reforming such an iconic House as Yves Saint Laurent. The direction that has been taken over the last four years represents an incredible foundation for the Brand to build on for its continuous success.”

Slimane was previously associated with Dior Homme (the menswear line of Christian Dior) as the Creative Director from the year 2000 to 2007. According to grapevine, Italian-Belgian fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello is most likely to replace Silmane, though no news about the same has come up from Yves Saint Laurent yet.
