A Supreme Court lawyer named Mohammad Shishir Manir, has recently filed a writ petition with the High Court, on behalf of 33 consumers of the e-commerce platform eorange.shop, seeking travel ban on top officials of the vulnerable e-commerce entities in Bangladesh so as to prevent them from leaving the country.
Media reports maintained this while adding, the writ petition also requested the court to direct the respondents to investigate all transactions of the vulnerable digital or e-commerce firms to make sure if they have committed money laundering even as it, reportedly, challenged the so-called inactions and failure of the Government institutions/bodies in taking necessary actions to protect the rights and interests of the consumers.
Further, the petitioner, on behalf of the 33 consumers, also, reportedly, sought court’s direction to Commerce Ministry to constitute an experts’ committee for preparing specific proposals for the protection of rights and interests of the consumers as well as the e-commerce platforms.
