American mega retailer Walmart has announced the appointment of former American Express executive Janey Whiteside as its first chief customer officer. Whiteside will be based in Hoboken, New Jersey and will serve the office from August 1.
The role has been created by the company in order to serve its customers in better manner to attract them towards the company in view of tough situation in retail market.
In this newly created role, Whiteside, who is known for holding experience in relationship management, marketing and customer engagement, will take care of both offline and online store offerings.
“Her role will be critical in dealing with customer issues and will be responsible for brand and thinking through the customer journey – from acquiring new customers to their shopping experience,” stated Walmart in a recently released memo.
In addition to Janey Whiteside, Walmart has also roped in Barbara Messing as the successor of chief marketing officer Tony Rogers effective mid August. Rogers will now serve the company’s warehouse chain Sam’s Club in a new role.
Messing will be based at Walmart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Intensifying its efforts to stay ahead of its rivals, Walmart recently announced a new initiative that not just enabled ‘order-by-text’ service to the customers, but also delivered the products the same day.
