US-based retail behemoth Walmart has tied up with renowned TV-show host Ellen DeGeneres to launch its new denim-based apparel collection which will be available at Walmart stores and online platforms, next month onwards.
The latest collection will be called EV1 that will consist 60 products ranging from denim, graphic tees, sneakers and accessories for women, with all the items under the price bracket of US $ 30.
The American retailer cited that the multi-year fashion collaboration with DeGeneres would begin on September 10 when the womenswear debuts on Walmart.com and across its 2,300 stores.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to a report by Morgan Stanley, Amazon can dethrone Walmart as the country’s leading apparel retailer by the end of this year. In a bid to stay competitive with its rivals, Walmart is trying to enhance its apparel sector by partnering with brands.
Markedly, earlier this year, the retailer launched 4 new apparel brands to enhance its sales in the apparel segment and rolled out products from Lord & Taylor on its online marketplace as per the agreement both retailers made in November last year.
Interestingly, Walmart’s arch-rival Amazon is keen on adding in-house brands and collaborating with famous ones like Calvin Klein, Chico’s FAS and Nike to retail more apparel from renowned brands on its platform.
Speaking on the development, DeGeneres said that the biggest inspiration was actually inclusiveness. “We wanted it to be attractive and be available to as many people as possible,” she added.
