
Destination Maternity, the world’s largest designer and retailer of maternity apparel, has announced the appointment of Marla A. Ryan, who has more than 25 years of experience in branded apparel and retail, as well as extensive experience in consulting Fortune 500 companies, to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with immediate effect.
Ryan will succeed interim CEO Melissa Payner-Gregor, who is set to bid adieu to the company to pursue other opportunities.
Gregor served the company as Director since August 2009 and interim CEO since January this year.
Ryan is honoured to become a part of a company which has an iconic brand portfolio including Motherhood and A Pea in the Pod.
She is prepared to work with board and employees for the implementation of comprehensive and attainable business plans geared toward accelerating revenue growth, rationalizing expenses and improving profitability. “Our focus majorly would be on performance and improvement in shareholder value,” said Ryan.
The company is confident that Ryan’s experience would help Destination Maternity to create space for itself in the market.
As of February 3, 2018, Destination Maternity operates 1,124 retail locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, including 487 stores.
