Urban Outfitters, the US-based apparel and fashion retailer, has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Sheila Harrington will be replacing outgoing CEO Trish Donnelly, who is exiting the retail firm to start a new career.
31 January will be the last day at office for Trish Donnelly.
Meanwhile, the retailer has, reportedly, announced that Sheila will continue to function as the CEO of Free People Group.
Having rich experience with retail bigwigs like Gap and Bloomingdales, the American clothing retailer couldn’t have asked for a better replacement than Sheila.
The Group has also promoted Gabrielle Conforti as the President of Urban Outfitters North America. Gabrielle is presently working as Chief Merchandising Officer for the Urban Outfitters brand.
Emma Wisden will also continue as the MD of Urban Outfitters Europe in addition to looking after brand’s wholesale business.
Notably, both Gabrielle and Emma will report to Sheila.
The Group recently released its financial results, wherein its net sales for the 2 months ended 31 December 2020 fell by 8.4 per cent year-over-year. The retail comparable sales too dipped by 9 per cent overall for the same period.
The retailer hopes the business to improve in 2021 following some major reshuffle in top positions. We will have to wait and see how the year turns out to be for the Group.
Urban Outfitters, Inc. has wide portfolio of fashion brands that include the likes of Free People, Anthropologie, Terrain and BHLDN, amongst others. It generated US $ 3.9 billion in 2019.
