Uniqlo, the renowned fast fashion brand from Japan, is now planning to expand to Asia-Pacific region.
Substantiating further, Satoshi Hatase, Vice President, Uniqlo parent Fast Retailing, averred that the company intends to expand its number of stores in southeast Asia and Oceania to nearly 400 by the year 2022.
He further added that this emphasises company’s new strategy of focusing on stand-alone stores.
After successfully opening stand-alone retail stores in Thailand, Uniqlo is all set to do the same in Philippines and Malaysia as well.
It is pertinent to note that opening of stand-alone stores in suburban locations had played an important role in the original growth of Uniqlo in Japan.
Besides Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines, the Japanese fashion brand has stores in Singapore, Indonesia and Australia too. The company plans to soon open its store in Vietnam.
Corroborating further Hatase said that Uniqlo is focused to mark its presence in all the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and that includes Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos too.
For the third quarter of its financial year ending May 2018, Uniqlo generated 517.3 billion yen, which is a significant 12.4 per cent surge from what it was during the same period in 2017.
Fast Retailing intends to increase its sales in the region by 3 times to touch 300 billion yen annually by August 2022.
