Uniqlo has always been ahead of the game when it comes to unique collaborations and collections.
In its latest collaboration, the brand has roped in Grammy award winning singer Billie Eilish and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, to draw on their personal artistic perspectives to create a new line of ready-to-wear T-shirts.
The brand announced the news through their Instagram handle with a short video teaser displaying the iconic Takashi Murakami motifs.
The collection is slated to launch in May itself and will be retailed under the name “Billie Eilish x Murakami UT,” UT standing for the brands special T-shirt collections.
The video teased a manga-style model all dressed in white against a white background with the words Billie Eilish inscribed on its T-shirt in lettering composed of Murakami motifs.
The collections will juxtapose the contrasting creative geniuses of both accomplished artists.
Eilish and Murakami have worked together in the past when the latter directed a video for “You should see me in a crown”, a part of Eilish’s album in 2019.
Earlier, Uniqlo’s parent entity Fast Retailing had announced a plunge of 57.7 per cent in total sales in April in Japan. As footfall continued to be negligible, same-store sales have taken a hit as they function on reduced working hours and consumers choose to stay home amidst worries of catching the virus.
