British fashion retailer John Lewis has decided to charter extra ships to ensure all Christmas stock comes on time.
The holiday season is not far away and fashion retailers have already started putting efforts to make sure there’s no delay on any front.
More on the move, Sharon White, Chair, John Lewis, said the business was throwing everything at the issues to ensure there is no kind of disruption during Christmas.
She also stated that John Lewis has lately introduced several measures to help manage issues pertaining to labour shortage – and this included hiring of thousands of workers.
Besides, it recently raised wages for heavy goods drivers, so that more people are lured to work. Here it is important to mention that there is still a shortage of 100,000 drivers in the UK, as confirmed by a reported survey.
It was only last month that the retailer had signed a 3-year deal with the logistics pioneer Clipper to expand its online operations, which is also expected to create more than 200 jobs.
John Lewis has over 40 stores across Great Britain, with concessions in the Republic of Ireland and Australia.
