Tiger Woods, the top-tier golf player, has introduced his new brand ‘Sun Day Red’ and announced a partnership with TaylorMade ahead of the Genesis Invitational. In preparation for the 2024 season, Woods will showcase a fresh appearance after confirming his collaboration with the Californian golf equipment manufacturer to launch his new line of clothing and footwear.
Sun Day Red (SDR) replaces Nike’s TW Collection as Woods’ official clothing brand following his announcement last month about ending his 27-year partnership with Nike.
In a news release, Woods expressed that his experience has taught him valuable insights over the years, enabling him to fine-tune his apparel and footwear to enhance his performance based on their construction. He mentioned, “Sun Day Red will embody a passion for playing and competing, catering to individuals who share those values, whether on the course or in life. Our focus will always be on prioritising the athlete in our product decisions.”
The brand is an extension of Woods’ existing partnership with TaylorMade, with whom he signed an equipment endorsement deal in 2017. This collaboration marks the conclusion of his long-standing association with the Nike ‘swoosh’ logo worn during all 82 of his PGA Tour victories.
Sun Day Red pays homage to Woods’ signature style of donning a red polo shirt during tournament final rounds. The logo features an abstract tiger drawing positioned below the buttons of the polo shirts, distinct from the conventional placement on the chest. The tiger emblem bears 15 stripes symbolising each of his major victories, while the enduring connection to the colour red stems from Woods’ mother associating it with strength.
Scheduled for release in North America on 1st May, Sun Day Red intends to expand its offerings to include women’s and children’s styles, along with footwear. The brand’s headquarters will be situated in San Clemente, California, under the leadership of Brad Blankinship, appointed as president of Sun Day Red. Blankinship brings prior experience from renowned brands like Quiksilver and RVCA to oversee day-to-day operations.
