ThredUp, an online marketplace for used clothing, said on Thursday that Florin Filote has been named general manager of Europe. Filote will oversee ThredUp’s operations in nine Central and Eastern European nations in this capacity.
Filote had executive roles at Pigu Hobby Hall Group, a well-known leader in e-commerce in the Baltics and Finland, before joining ThredUp. There, he held the positions of group transformative CEO and interim chief revenue officer. Additionally, he led the strategy and execution of Marketplace and B2B Sales for seven years at eMAG, a major player in European e-commerce.
“We’ve made great strides in growing our European business since entering the market in 2021, more than doubling our revenue and evangelizing secondhand across Central and Eastern Europe,” said ThredUp CEO and cofounder James Reinhart, who Filote will report to.
Filote takes over from Dan DeMeyere, who has been with ThredUp since 2010 and most recently oversaw the company’s global operations for two years. As he moves into a new position as chief product and technology officer, DeMeyere will be responsible for driving innovation in technology and artificial intelligence across the American firm.
“ThredUp has long been a resale pioneer, and I’m humbled to join such a talented team and contribute to their already thriving European operations,” said Filote.
