Seasalt Cornwall, the UK-based clothing retailer, has something to cheer about in 2021.
The fashion retailer has seen its sales go up by an impressive 17 per cent in the 5 weeks that ended 2 January 2021.
The lifestyle retailer has attributed the jump to its outstanding e-commerce performance during the said period.
The e-commerce sales during the 5 weeks rose by a whopping 95 per cent and thus neutralised a fall of 44 per cent in store sales during the same period.
The retailer also said that its robust international performance has helped offset the impact the store closures in the UK over the last few months.
It is worth noting here that the international sales of the retailer grew by 20 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) for the said period.
The store sales for the financial year too may also get impacted. The retailer has said that owing to store closures, store sales for the year ending 30 January 2021 may be about 57 per cent lower than the last financial year that had ended 1 February 2020.
However, the retailer expects to see its e-commerce sales jump by 72 per cent Y-o-Y for the financial year.
The overall sales are expected to go down by 9 per cent. Whether numbers match the forecast, only time will tell!
Meanwhile, the retailer has said that it has taken necessary measures to meet the challenges ahead and is well positioned in 2021, which also marks the start of its 40th year.
