As England enters national lockdown, which might last till the middle of February according to British Premier Boris Johnson, challenges multiply for the retailers all across the country.
To help the retailers as well as the hospitality and leisure sectors in their business, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced to provide grants on a per-property basis.
The grants worth £4.6 billion are, reportedly, expected to benefit over 600,000 businesses across the UK.
He announced that one-off top-ups will also be given like £4,000 for businesses with rateable value of £15,000 or less, £6,000 for businesses with rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000 and £9,000 for businesses with rateable value more than £51,000.
Lauding Government’s efforts to have always taken quick and appropriate steps to save the lives of people and also jobs, Rishi said that this announcement of offering more monetary help will support businesses and jobs until the spring.
It is important to state here that Rishi had announced last month that the COVID-19 job retention scheme has been extended till April 2021.
