Reebok and Barbie have joined forces to unveil a family-friendly apparel and footwear collection set to release on 20th September. This collaboration is inspired by the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which aims to challenge gender stereotypes and close the gap preventing girls from achieving their dreams.
The collection features:
Barbie x Reebok Club C Extra: This platform shoe showcases tonal debossing and Barbie’s “B” logo on leather panels, along with shiny mesh detailing and light pink accents.
Barbie x Reebok BB 4000 II: A black suede shoe with patent leather side stripes and pink highlights.
Barbie x Reebok FloatZig 1: A hot pink version of Reebok’s popular running shoe, featuring embossed and foiled branding.
The campaign highlights a young girl exploring different careers in the footwear industry, reflecting the goal to empower girls and address the underrepresentation of black and brown women in this field. Reebok will support Girls Inc. by making a donation and hosting members. from the Girls Inc. Lynn chapter at its Boston headquarters. The girls will meet the designers behind the collection, learn about their career paths, and receive items from the collection. This initiative supports Reebok’s “Human Rights Now!” and United Against Racism programs.
Poria Blunt, Senior Vice President of Global Product at Reebok, expressed, “Partnering with Barbie to create this collection and campaign allows us to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams confidently. By showcasing barriers faced by Black and Brown girls in the footwear industry, we aim to empower the next generation of changemakers.”
