US-based luxury fashion retailer Ralph Lauren has named David Lauren as its new Vice Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) to help drive the brand across all channels, as per reports.
It has also been reported that the appointment is part of Stefan Larsson’s, the company’s Chief Executive Officer’s “Way Forward” plan to revive Ralph Lauren Corp.’s sales, and the turnaround effort will also see the closure of 50 underperforming stores, corporate job cuts of around 1,000 positions and will have a greater focus on its best-selling products.

“Lauren will help us create a sustainable and a competitive advantage by bringing us closer to the consumer as we continue to evolve the company from the core of its iconic brand,” said Larsson.
Lauren has been on the company’s board since 2013 and previously served as the Executive Vice President, where he was responsible for the global advertising and marketing campaigns for all the company’s brands. He has been instrumental in growing the company’s global e-commerce business and building the Company’s global fashion image as it has expanded internationally.
