Puma, the German-based sportswear brand, has partnered with an Indian designer for the first time to create a collection of sneakers.
Masaba Gupta is that designer who has created a limited edition range of sneakers! And now keeping in line with the global sneaker-head culture of releasing limited pairs from high-profile collaborations, only 50 pairs of Masaba’s hand-painted sneakers will be sold in India.
These shoes are versatile and ideal for anyone looking to add a pop of colour to their lives.
Masaba has designed two lines in this collection taking into consideration the emotional and mental health concerns like anxiety, which is growing at a worrying pace among today’s youth.
That is the dedication and idea behind the limited collection sneakers. Asserting further, Masaba said “Anxiety seems like a curse on this generation and therefore the anti-anxiety shoe sheds light on this issue. Identity is another issue that needs to be addressed.”
Prior to this, the brand had collaborated with designer Aki Narula for an athleisure apparel line for women, which was almost a decade back.
Going forward, Puma is now exploring opportunities to work with celebrities in India either for launching exclusive lines, like with Virat Kohli’s One8 or for making them the face of the brand, as in the case of boxing champion Mary Kom and actress Sara Ali Khan.
Masaba Gupta’s Puma capsule collection will be sold through the sportswear brand’s e-commerce channel and its Mumbai flagship store.
It is imperative to note that her fashion label, House of Masaba, also recently raised US $ 1 million in the first round of funding led by Flipkart Co-founder Binny Bansal.
