Feeling the need to balance operations between markets for greater stability, many exporters are going into domestic retail these days. A new name in this sequence is PK International Exports, Mumbai. Working mainly with Li & Fung and other buyers with a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit of more than 500 machines in Surat, PK International has recently entered into domestic retail with a women wear brand ‘Lavue’. The brand focuses on especially tops and tunics for young women.
In conversation with Team AO, Pradeep Kabra, MD of company said, we will follow EBO system at two stores in Surat and Ludhiana, we are targeting 20 stores by March 2013 covering all India. Our target is the budget segment so price range is Rs. 595 to 795.” The company recently started menswear production for the US market. Developing from a family business of fabric trading, Pradeep started garmenting in 1998 and since then company has followed a regular expansion mode. Its annual turnover is Rs. 70 crores in which fabric and garmenting business contributes equally.
