Target, the reputed American retailer, has announced to hire as many as 100,000 seasonal workers – much expected considering a busy holiday season ahead.
Earlier this week, the US fashion retailer Macy’s had announced to hire around 76,000 new full-time and part-time employees across all its stores, call centres and distribution centres.
And now it is Target! In a statement released to media, the retailer said it is giving team members more hours and options to work sporadically, and that means taking occasional shifts that fit their schedules.
Notably, Target is also offering its existing store workers an additional 5 million hours, which is, importantly, over US $ 75 million in wages.
Here it is important to state that Target, reportedly, has minimum wage of US $ 15 for all its team members.
What’s also notable is that the seasonal workers to be hired will also have the choice of continuing to work even after holidays.
With every big retailer rushing to hire workers, Target’s move hasn’t come as a surprise. Much to the benefit of workers, Target also recently ramped up incentives and schemes to lure more workers.
