Oregon (US)-based sportswear giant Nike has decided to open its new flagship store in New York in early 2019. The clothing retailer has also decided to close down its existing Niketown New York store at 6 East 57th Street by Spring 2018.
The new store will be placed at 650 Fifth Avenue and spread over an area of more than 69,000 square feet, claims a statement issued by the company.
The five-storey outlet will also feature a NikePlus members-only destination where they can get an access to unique products, experiences and customization opportunities offered by Nike. A highly-trained Nike Expert will be deployed here who will advise the members on personal shopping, their sports goals and product needs.
According to Heidi O’Neill, President of Nike Direct, NikePlus members will be served in a better manner at the new store with innovative offerings.
A multi-sport assortment of product innovation and services will be featured across floors. The lower level of the store will have Nike’s new small-format retail concept Hyperlive.
On the technology front, the retailer has made a provision for sending push notifications on products, based on preferences and membership profiles, to the members when they will check into the store.
