Aerogami is a revolutionary performance-apparel technology from Nike that improves athletes’ capacity to breathe. On-demand ventilation is provided by the venting system, which autonomously adapts to the wearer’s needs. It makes use of moisture-reactive vents that open and close in response to the body’s ability to detect sweat.
The first product to use this concept is the Nike Run Division Aerogami jacket, which was created to address the issues associated with regulating body temperature for runners.
Aerogami was created by the Nike Explore Team (NXT) and the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL). It reacts to the wearer’s body in real time, opening small winged vents as perspiration accumulates to improve airflow and closing them as the body cools. The positioning of the vents, which responds to gender-specific needs, was informed by testing in environmental chambers and study of runners’ heat and sweat maps. Nike’s Storm-FIT ADV material is also used in the jacket to provide wind and rain resistance.
While the men’s version won’t be released until later in the autumn of 2023, the women’s Nike Run Division Aerogami jacket will be.
