New York-based fashion house Tapestry Inc. (formerly known as Coach Inc.) has roped in Nicola Glass as the new Creative Director of Kate Spade.
Nicola will take charge in January 2018. Her appointment to the role happened after the current Creative Head Deborah Lloyd decided to leave the company.
The fashion label’s recent acquisition by Tapestry is seen as the major reason behind Lloyd’s decision to step down. She held the role for 10 long years.
Prior to joining Kate Spade in 2007, Lloyd served at senior positions at fashion brands like Burberry and Banana Republic. During her tenure with Kate Spade, the brand’s fashion business grew from US $ 100 million to US $ 1.3 billion.
The Kate Spade brand is famous for its eccentric and feminine designs. And now, Nicola will look at product design, brand imagery and store environments for Kate Spade to make it even more appealing.
Nicola is currently associated with Michael Kors as Senior Vice President of Accessories Design. She joined the company in the year 2004. Before that, Nicola held a creative role at Gucci in Italy.
Victor Luis, Brand President and Chief Executive Officer of Tapestry Inc. said her appointment is an important milestone in the next chapter of Kate Spade.
He said Nicola is capable to decide on ideas how to manage a growing fashion business.
