Fashion e-commerce leader Myntra has unveiled an AI-powered chatbot called Maya, designed to enhance consumers’ shopping experiences by providing customised suggestions and streamlining decision-making processes, according to a press release.
Maya is an extension of Myntra’s virtual fashion influencer and aims to simplify product discovery and refine choices for customers. This innovative feature is available on the Myntra app and has been launched just in time for Myntra’s annual festive extravaganza, the Big Fashion Festival (BFF).
Raghu Krishnananda, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Myntra, commented, “The introduction of our AI-powered shopping assistant, Maya, marks a significant milestone in our journey to elevate the shopping experience of millions of fashion-forward shoppers in the country by providing a conversational interface to our users.”
“As the festive season kicks in, we eagerly look forward to our customers engaging with Maya, with the confidence that their quest for finding the perfect fashion and lifestyle needs will be met with enhanced convenience,” he added.
Maya is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and offers product recommendations from a vast selection of 2.3 million styles spanning fashion, beauty, footwear, and home categories listed on Myntra. The chatbot’s contextual awareness enables it to provide real-time recommendations to customers based on the ongoing conversation, creating a more personalised shopping journey.
Initially, the feature will be introduced to 10 per cent of Myntra’s user base, with plans to expand its availability to a broader audience in the near future. The primary focus is on delivering relevant results to consumers, and it will eventually extend its capabilities to tasks such as summarizing ratings and reviews, aiding in size selection, and incorporating voice and image recognition.
Myntra also has plans to make Maya accessible in vernacular languages, increasing its relevance in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
