In order to expand its Fosse Park store in Leicestershire, M&S plans to undertake its “biggest single renewal investment to date.” The Crown Estate-owned retail park will see the fashion and food retailer expand its existing store by 11,500 square feet to 100,000 square feet when it moves into the empty space next to it.
The larger format website will offer a wider selection of products in the categories of food, apparel, housewares, and cosmetics. The store will remain open over the duration of the work, which is scheduled to be finished in the autumn.
M&S Fosse Park store manager Andy Frith said, “We want to deliver a brilliant shopping experience for our customers and the very best of M&S. This investment – M&S’ biggest single renewal investment to date – will mean we can create a brand defining store here in Leicestershire.”
M&S is moving to larger, better stores as part of its store rejuvenation project, which includes the retail makeover. This entails renovating current stores and opening new flagships, such as the Liverpool One, Leeds White Rose, and Birmingham Bullring, which have all opened in the last year.
