French fashion brand Mii Collection, known for its emphasis on Indian craftsmanship, is opening a new production workshop in West Bengal, India. The 10,000-square-meter facility aims to employ local artisans and preserve traditional textile expertise. Mii Collection, founded by Lucie Bourreau and Bapan Dutta, showcases intricate embroideries, handwoven fabrics, and vibrant patterns. With the new workshop, the brand gains complete control over its production chain and reinforces its commitment to social responsibility and eco-conscious practices.
With the opening of its new dedicated workshop in September, Mii Collection will have complete control over its production chain. The workshop, situated in the Bardhaman district, covers an expansive area of 10,000 square meters and integrates both design and manufacturing processes. Designed in collaboration with French architect Laurent Fournier, the facility incorporates eco-friendly features such as a green environment, a brick dome, solar panels, and a rainwater treatment system.
Currently, Mii Collection primarily focuses on wholesale distribution, which accounts for 90 per cent of its revenue. The brand collaborates with a network of seven agents and distributes its collection, including khadi cotton shirts, silk dresses with mosaic prints, and linen pants, through a global network of 220 retailers. While exports make up 60 per cent of their business, Mii Collection proudly showcases its presence in prestigious concept stores such as Merci in Paris, Solis in Lyon, Axsym in Bordeaux, and Coppelia in Avignon.
Based in Brest, France, Mii Collection experienced significant growth, with a 30 per cent increase in revenue, generating € 2.6 million in the previous fiscal year (ending 31st March 2023). Looking ahead, the Franco-Indian duo plans to expand the brand further in India next year and open a boutique in the trendy neighbourhood of Saint-Germain in Paris.
