Meesho, a fast-growing e-commerce company in India, is integrating with Government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to help buyers get connected with hyperlocal sellers and support the country’s vision for an inclusive e-commerce ecosystem.
The pilot will be launched in Bengaluru, with plans to gradually roll it out to other locations over the coming months.
80 per cent of Meesho’s 14 crore annual transacting customers hail from Tier 2+ cities and the company has played a critical role in increasing access for underserved users across the country. Meesho has more than 8 lakh sellers currently registered with it with 40 per cent from Tier-2 cities or further afield. It is focusing on making e-commerce more inclusive and the integration with ONDC will amplify the company’s efforts in that direction.

ONDC will also play an important role in expanding India’s e-commerce sector by bringing more consumers online. Meesho’s emphasis on small towns is a key differentiator and an enabler of ONDC’s success. Meesho has developed strong relationships with small businesses and entrepreneurs in these areas, which will help drive ONDC network adoption.
Furthermore, Meesho’s technology platform will allow small businesses to quickly and easily list their products on the ONDC marketplace.
