LVMH’s esteemed Métiers d’Art division has expanded its portfolio by acquiring Grupo Verdeveleno, a well-established Spanish tannery renowned for its expertise in exotic skins.
With the backing of Métiers d’Art, Verdeveleno is poised to make substantial investments in enhancing product quality, fortifying the supply chain, ensuring traceability, and advancing sustainability practices.
Grupo Verdeveleno’s integration of the age-old craftsmanship culture prevalent in the Spanish regions of Valencia, Castellón, and Alicante sets it apart. This collaboration with local artisans, has proven instrumental in their leather treatment methods.
Prior to this acquisition, LVMH’s Métiers d’Art division comprised 17 companies specialising in leather and metal hardware production, collectively generating € 700 million in revenue.
Matteo De Rosa, CEO of LVMH Métiers d’Art, emphasised a holistic approach to sustainability, encompassing economic, social, and environmental aspects. He stated, “Our method is to let company founders continue to run their business, while we contribute our expertise to operations, marketing, human resources, R&D, and corporate development management.”
