Despite pandemic-related struggles, renowned English kidswear retailer Mamas & Papas has managed to come out of the crisis unscathed.
The demise of close competitor Mothercare seems to have helped the cause of the kidswear retailer’s profit.
The nursery and childrenswear retailer has, reportedly, revealed that its turnover has touched £71.5 million for the year ended 31 March 2021.
It is worth mentioning here that the retailer was at just £36 million six months back.
Importantly, the Yorkshire-based retailer has turned the loss of £3.9 million, for the previous period, to a profit of £1.1 million.
Mamas & Papas said that despite pandemic-induced uncertainties, it gained significantly from online sales – not to mention the liquidation of Mothercare, which had been a big name in the sector.
Consequently, Mamas & Papas capitalised on the opportunity and opened two new concession stores and a retail store in addition to launching own brand that helped in its considerable growth in market share during the year.
Founded in 1981, Mamas & Papas is known for kidswear and maternity wear, besides selling other baby products.
