François-Henri Pinault-owned French luxury group Kering has announced the on-boarding of Emma Watson to its board of directors.
Emma Watson, an actor of Harry Potter fame, has been an ardent advocate of the need for sustainable fashion and supports the Good On You mobile app which lets consumers check sustainability credentials of various brands.
It is in line with this that Kering has appointed her Chair of the Sustainability Committee.
During its annual general meeting, the board approved the appointment of Emma Watson along with Jean Liu and Tidjane Thiam. Tidjane will be serving as the head of the board’s audit committee.
Emma has been an activist for gender equality, using her platform to raise awareness about several issues. In 2014, she was appointed United Nations Woman Global Goodwill Ambassador wherein she stated the HeforShe campaign.
Announcing the addition in an Instagram post, Kering Group’s official handle posted on behalf of Pinault, “The collective intelligence that comes from diverse points of view and the richness of different experiences are crucial to the future of our organisation. I am proud to add such impressive talents to the team.”
The Paris-based luxury group, which made revenue of €15.9 billion in 2019, boasts of diverse portfolio labels that it manages and develops including the likes of Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, BottegaVeneta, Alexander McQueen, among many more renowned names.
