Philadelphia-based fashion and lifestyle retailer Anthropologie has announced that the brand’s CEO and President of Urban Outfitters Inc., David McCreight will effectively leave his position from April 27, 2018.
A replacement has not been announced, however, it is made known that his current responsibilities will be handed over to Hillary Super, Anthropologie Group President, Apparel and Accessories, which comprises Beauty and BHLDN as well as Andrew Carnie, Anthropologie Group President, Home, Garden and International.
Super and Carnie will jointly handle the workload of leading the Urban Outfitters Group that owns labels like BHLDN, Free People, Terrain and Urban Outfitters, apart from Anthropologie.
Richard A. Hayne, Chairman and CEO, URBN said, “We thank David for his six years of service to the company, during which time Anthropologie opened 60 stores and grew revenue by over 35 per cent. Anthropologie Group’s current business is particularly robust, and we are excited about both the near- and longer-term opportunities.”
The news comes after the brand announced fall in profits by over 50 per cent, taking the label from US $ 218.12 million to US $ 108.26 million in just a year. The company added 7 new stores to its already massive portfolio that includes 247 Urban Outfitters stores, 226 Anthropologie Group stores, 132 of Free People plus catalogues and websites and its 10 food and beverage holdings in US, Canada and EU.
The Group’s wholesale division currently retails at some 2,100 department and speciality stores and reported a 9.5 per cent sales increase last year. Even with growth in online sales, the group said that their average order size has dropped.
