There are reports that British sportswear retailer JD Sports is in talks with Authentic Brands to come together and bid jointly for the ailing brand Topshop.
The discussion, still in its early stages, aims to acquire the operations of the brand from the administrators of Arcadia Group.
Notably, Deloitte, who are the administrators of Arcadia Group, which had collapsed in November 2020, is engaged in securing deals for as many of Group’s assets as possible.
If the discussion between Authentic Brands and JD Sports turns out to be fruitful, it will be addition to the list of strong contenders eyeing Topshop. Boohoo Group, Frasers Group and Next too are in the race to acquire the brand.
Here it is pertinent to mention that early this week G-III Apparel, the American clothing firm, joined the race to bid for Arcadia Group’s assets.
