More and more retailers are opening their stores, with each passing day.
JCPenney is the latest to do so by reopening its 150 stores across 27 states. This brings the total number of stores reopened for the retailer to 304. Additionally, five stores are currently offering contact-free curbside pickup only.
In a press release, the retailer said that one-third of its stores are now open. Further, there are plans to reopen nearly 500 stores by 3 June.
Jim DePaul, EVP, Stores, of the company, shared that the company is excited to welcome back its customers and dedicated associates.
The company will continue to monitor CDC guidelines, as well as state and local mandates, to inform its practices, taking extra precautions and going above and beyond those recommendations.
As PPE is required for store staff, the company is providing gloves, masks and hand sanitisers to promote a healthy work and shopping environment.
It is also offering designated shopping hours for at-risk customers at all stores on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 am to noon.
