
J C Penney Inc, one of the US’s largest apparel and home furnishing retailers, has announced few shuffles in the company’s organizational structure.
Ken Mangone, with 39 years of commendable service as EVP, product development, design and sourcing will be taken over by John Tighe. Val Harris, who was the former vice-president of product development, design and trend for women’s businesses, has been promoted to senior vice president, product development and design. Harris will be leading a team, comprising over 200 textile, technical and fashion designers, who translate trends and develop seasonal collections.
Marvin R Ellison, Chief Executive Officer, JC Penney, while commenting on Val said, “Val is a trusted and highly-respected member of the J C Penney team, who, in her over 30 years at the Company, has driven product development and trend directions of many of our class-leading private and exclusive brands.”

In a separate development, Mike Robbins, who is currently designated as SVP, supply chain, has gained additional responsibility over the company’s sourcing organization, which includes a network of international buying offices, quality control functions, social compliance teams and other global operations.
J C Penney is one of the largest importers of textiles and apparel in the US, sourcing from approximately 400 suppliers located in 32 countries around the globe, making it one of the most sophisticated and experienced retail sourcing organizations in the industry.
Incidentally, Levy Group, one of their suppliers, were involved in a trademark infringement case along with the retailer, for copying the ‘Burberry Checks’. Burberry had sued both the companies for the same.
