Spanish fashion powerhouse Inditex, chaired by chairwoman Marta Ortega, is implementing the most important executive changes in its team as part of a broader effort to renew its leadership. The company has announced three significant new appointments after the recent departures of senior leaders Jesús Echevarría, Carlos Crespo, and Pablo del Bado.
Fernando de Bunes Ibarra, previously head of risk management, has been appointed Inditex’s new sustainability director, succeeding Javier Losada. Losada, a veteran of the company since 1993, served as the sustainability director since 2019 and joined the executive committee in 2022. He will depart the company after a transition period.
To strengthen its financial leadership, Inditex has appointed Ignacio Fernández Fernández as corporate general manager. Fernández will manage finance, sustainability, logistics, transportation, and infrastructure. In addition, Andrés Sánchez Iglesias has been appointed chief financial officer. Both executives will join the company’s executive committee. Formerly, Fernández served as general finance director, while Sánchez led the tax division.
Led by CEO Óscar García Maceiras, these leadership changes underline the dedication of Inditex to refresh and modernize its management team. Earlier this year, Gorka García-Tapia Yturriaga was also named head of investor relations.
Inditex, the Galician group behind brands like Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka reported a 7.5 per cent increase in sales for fiscal 2024, with revenues hitting US $ 42.5 billion, demonstrating its sustained market strength despite the leadership changes.
