Karl-Johan Persson, Ceo of H&M recently made a visit to Bangladesh in order to meet the country’s Minister of Commerce, Tofail Ahmed and present to him the company’s request to establish a secure remuneration and compensation structure there. Employing around 6,00,000 workers in 300 factories, Karl on behalf of H&M highlighted the need for continued wage developments as the textile and apparel sector in Bangladesh are the major growth drivers for the country’s economy and only means to eliminate the poverty there. He also stressed on how the government needed to pay more attention to the availability of resources in terms of clean water and other basic amenities.
