The luxury Italian label Gucci unveiled their report of environmental impact which the label has been taking serious measures to minimise.
According to the report, the label has successfully reduced their total footprint by 20 per cent from last year.
Their production processes were optimised to reduce emission of harmful green-house gases which ended up decreasing by 37 per cent from 2018 to 2019.
Notably, the company has further cut down 19 per cent in the last year.
The report is a part of label’s ‘Culture of Purpose’ programme (2015-2025), which aims to reduce their brand’s total environment footprint by 40 per cent over the course of 10 years.
Gucci credited the use of environment-friendly alternatives like recycled raw materials and increased incorporation of organic fibres into their collections.
The company further extends production process by going scrap-less for leather product manufacturing and ethical sourcing of metals for their accessories and jewelry line.
In accordance to its supply chain optimisation, the retail side of the brand has also made a switch for the good. Relying on renewable energy sources for 83 per cent of their stores and warehouses, was also one of the factors that saved green-house gas emissions. The company aims to achieve the target of 100 per cent by the end of this year.
Going by the outstanding success of the programme, the company looks at achieving the initial goal well before its proposed deadline of 2025.
