Fluvitex, a Spanish textile firm, is set to open its first factory in USA, Groveport, Ohio, on October 3rd. The newly opened factory will be dedicated to the manufacturing of pillows, quilts, and other products for Swedish company Ikea.
The decided factory location will help with the reduced product prices through its shorter transportation distance and lower energy consumption per output.
According to media reports originating from Ohio state’s Columbus region, with an area of about 123,588- square-foot, the factory will employee around 80 people. Also, the company has made an investment of US $ 8 million in machinery and equipment in the plant. An additional US $ 4 million will be invested in construction, inventories, and information technology infrastructure.
“About two-thirds of the quilts, cushions, and pillows sold by Ikea in North America will be manufactured at the factory,” said Nora Zullo, Purchasing and Logistics Area Manager of Inter, Ikea.
Founded in 1989, Fluvitex is a textile manufacturer with focus on curtains and draperies. Fluvitex is owned by Spanish textile giant Masias, which has 75 years of experience in manufacturing of textile products as well as machinery for the textile business.
