The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry or FBCCI, which is the apex trade organisation of Bangladesh playing a pivotal role in consultative and advisory capacity, safeguarding the interest of the private sector in the country, has proposed, instead of trade license, tax identification number (TIN) mandatory for doing business in Bangladesh.
Media reports maintained this adding FBCCI, as part of its proposal for the upcoming budget to be presented to the country’s National Bureau of Revenue (NBR), demanded submission of TIN certificates and tax payment documents be made prerequisite for any kind of business-related work in both private and public sectors.
Everyone should have a TIN certificate to do business, which will also help the revenue authority to expand its tax net, reportedly, underlined the trade body.
For information, in Bangladesh, the only authority to provide the TIN is National Board of Revenue (NBR).
