The Madrid shopping centre Caleido now houses the eco-friendly clothing line Ecoalf. This brand’s newest retail location is its first carbon-neutral facility, according to Javier Goyeneche. MVN Arquitectos, specialists in bioclimatic engineering, and interior designer Lorenzo Castillo collaborated with Ecoalf to create the concept. They were in charge of coming up with eco-friendly designs and low-impact approaches.
The shop, which has a total space of 149 square metres, is distinguished by the utilisation of recyclable materials that may be reused or repurposed at the end of their practical lifespan. The tall desks have a white clay tile inset, the terracotta-covered ceilings and walls are embellished with wood beams derived from Spanish woodlands and the furniture is composed of oak wood and coated in natural raffia.
Ecoalf will encourage learning and connecting via ‘Act Now! Sessions’ featuring environmental experts and leaders to encourage change, just like in its previous flagship locations. It is anticipated that the shop’s closeness to IE University will foster conversations with young students.
Ecoalf has partnered with Spanish solar panel construction business Emovili to reduce power usage. The upshot is that the store has 15 silicone solar panels with a life expectancy of 25 years, is nearly 100 per cent recyclable and prevents 2.95 tonnes of CO2 from reaching the environment annually.
