The US based discount retailer Dollar General (DG) makes headway in apparel and home section, and is further going to expand in 2015. Rick Dreiling, Chairman & CEO of the company said, “We are extremely pleased with the growth in our home and apparel segments. Our efforts with trends and affordability have begun to take hold with our customer.” The quarter that ended on October 31, 2014, net income ticked down 0.4 per cent to US $ 236 million. Adjusted net income increased 3 per cent to US $ 239 million while net sales rose 7.8 per cent to US $ 4.72 from US $ 4.38 billion. A major push in 2015 is store count, which the company plans to ramp up with 730 new units– including its first stores in Maine, Rhode Island and Oregon – and 875 relocations and/or remodels. Presently, it is operating 11,715 stores in 40 states.
