Disney+ will be launching a beta version of its store, where users will be able to purchase exclusive merchandise from brands like Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar and more. In order to pay and make a purchase, users must authenticate using their Disney+ login information. That means that, for the time being, the merchandise will be exclusive only to Disney+ subscribers.
The subscribers would hold the phone up to the TV in order to scan the QR code to purchase the exclusive merchandise or could purchase from shopDisney.com/DisneyPlusSpecialAccess, done as per the traditional method.
“Special access to this curated collection of merchandise for the upcoming holiday season is the latest example of the many ways we are experimenting to improve the user experience on Disney+, including improving the benefits of being a subscriber. We are excited to collaborate with shopDisney to explore how we can better serve our audiences by expanding the ways they engage with the stories and characters they love in Disney+,” declared Alisa Bowen, President of Disney+.
Through the new feature, buyers will gain access to merchandise including the DarkSaber Legacy Set from The Mandalorian, the Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi Battle of the Heroes Legacy Lightsaber Set; the Ahsoka Tano Legacy Lightsaber Hilts (to be signed by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka’s voice in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels); a special edition Ahsoka Tano doll (also signed by Eckstein); Doctor Strange’s cape; Scarlet Witch ear headband; Doctor Strange’s shield Captain Carter’s vibranium; a collectible ‘Black Panther’ mask; a Wakanda Forever Artist Series ‘Black Panther’ jacket; and a World of Wakanda Artist Series puzzle. Additionally, shoppers will be able to gain exclusive access to made-to-order merchandise, including ‘Frozen 2’ and ‘Lightyear’ T-shirt and hoodie designs.
