British department store Debenhams has appointed Steven Cook, former Chief Merchant of Canadian department store chain Holt Renfrew, as its new Fashion and Home Managing Director, effective early next year. He has also served Sears Canada as Vice President and General Manager of Apparel and Accessories, previously.
At Debenhams, Cook will manage buying, design and merchandising divisions for fashion and home segments of the company. In view of his experience and ability, Debenhams finalised Cook for this role.
Apart from the appointment of Cook, Debenhams’ Retail Director Ross Clemmow has now been tasked with additional responsibilities of Managing Director for Retail, Digital, Food and Events.
It is pertinent to note that the retailer unveiled its new strategy Debenhams Redesigned in April this year only to boost growth. The new strategy has been designed to deliver growth for the retailer by becoming a ‘Destination, Digital and Different’. It will also drive efficiency by simplifying their business operations.
Cook is excited to become part of the Debenhams team at this time of transformation. He said, “I look forward to leading the team in delivering both product development and a retailing experience which drives the Debenhams Redesigned strategy.”
