Japanese chain stores continue to decline in apparel sales revenues. The revenues were down by 11.50 per cent on Y-o-Y in February ’21, according to Japanese Chain Stores Association (JCSA).
The data of 11,014 stores of 56 companies associated with JCSA showed the revenues clocked were 47,561.47 million yen (US $ 432.51 million) in February ’21.
However, M-o-M drop was even worse than the Y-o-Y fall as the revenues declined by 19.80 percent in Feb. ’21 as compared to Jan. ’21.
Menswear clocked9,485.44 million yen revenues during Feb ’21,noting a fall of 5.80 per cent on Y-o-Y basis!The revenues were down on M-o-M basis too as there was a 13.80 per cent drop in February over January.
Womenswear revenues valued 11,935.54 million yen in Feb. ’21 with a fall of 19 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. M-o-M decline was huge too as the sales of women clothing in Japanese chain stores dropped by 18 per cent as compared to Jan. ’21.
All other types of clothing including kidswear sank 9.40 per cent on Y-o-Y basis to clock 26,140.61 million yen. Monthly drop in the segment’s revenues as against Jan. ’21 was 22.50 per cent.
