The central bank of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank (BB), has called upon the Commerce Ministry to hire audit firms with the view to conduct financial audits of nine errant e-commerce firms even as it sent a letter in this direction to the concerned ministry.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Additional Secretary to the Commerce Ministry, Hafizur Rahman, underlined, “…we have received the letter from the Bangladesh Bank on Sunday,” even as in the letter, the central bank has, reportedly, sought to know if the e-commerce companies have faked the audit report or not.
As per reports, amongst the list of nine errant e-commerce entities are also Dhamaka, Evaly and E-Orange, which have been in news recently for various reasons.
As per the Additional Secretary to the Commerce Ministry, the ministry would also take steps to formulate policy on food delivery as many food delivery companies allegedly charge unusual commission on restaurants for delivering food even as the audit firms (hired for audits of errant e-commerce players) will work to know the financial health of the companies as many customers are, reportedly, suffering from the anomalies of those e-commerce companies.
