Mohammad Rassel, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the highly-discussed e-commerce firm Evaly, has been released from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.
According to Central Jail-1 Jailer Md Tariqul Islam, Rassel, who had been held on multiple charges, was released on Monday afternoon.
The release followed a thorough verification of Rassel’s bail documents in all cases.
A few years ago, during the initial surge of the e-commerce business, Evaly gained prominence by offering substantial discounts on a variety of products, ranging from cars and motorcycles to household furniture, smart TVs, refrigerators, ACs, and washing machines.
Media reports surfaced, suggesting that individuals, enticed by these attractive offers, made substantial advance payments to order products with the intention of reselling them at a higher price for profit.
However, numerous customers faced extended delays in receiving their ordered products, and in some cases, Evaly allegedly failed to refund the advance payments. The ensuing dissatisfaction prompted widespread criticism and protests against Evaly and other e-commerce companies in mid-2021, with customers accusing them of fraudulent practices and financial misconduct.
Consequently, multiple cases were filed against these companies.
