ASOS, the British e-commerce retailer, has launched an Augmented Reality (AR) experience, a ‘Virtual Catwalk’, to enhance the online shopping experience of its customers.
Using this feature, customers can view 100s of ASOS’ newly designed products. The product page in the ASOS app will have the AR button, clicking which, the customers will be able to view the features.
They would just have to point their smartphone’s camera at any suitable flat surface and, can see models wearing the products for an almost realistic view.
The Virtual Catwalk feature is currently available globally only through the ASOS app on iOS 11.3 devices.
Also, according to British media sources, it is being claimed that the technology has been developed in joint collaboration between the brand and a London-based augmented reality firm, HoloMe.
“By allowing the consumer to bring mobile shopping into their own physical space, we can create a more intimate buying experience. We are excited to see how our technology can be used as a new way to communicate to the customer,” said Janosch Amstutz, CEO, HoloMe, in a statement.
The project is a part of the company’s ongoing experiment with technology to create a seamless shopping experience for its customers. Earlier, it had also launched an Action on Google Assistant, allowing customers to shop using their voice, and an AI-driven Fit assistant, which helped the customers to find the correct-fit products.
