Walmart, the American multinational retailer, has expressed its intent to hire as many 20,000 full-time and part time supply chain workers.
The move hasn’t evoked any surprise considering a very busy holiday season is round the corner.
The retailer has said that it will be conducting hiring events next week (8 and 9 September) for different roles across Walmart and Sam’s Club fulfillment centres and distribution centres, besides transportation offices.
In addition to hiring people for management positions, the event will see hiring of technicians, freight handlers, lift drivers as well as order fillers.
As per the press release, supply chain associates are paid an average of US $ 20.37 per hour.
Besides providing competitive wages, Walmart, reportedly, has claimed the launch of six new academies to offer specialised supply chain training to workers.
Additionally, Walmart is also providing medical coverage and other health-related benefits. The retailer has also, reportedly ensured that supply chain workers will receive bonus cheque if they get vaccinated by 4 October 2021.
Walmart, which generates US $ 559.2 billion, is reportedly the largest private employer in the world with 2.2 million employees.
