
Online retailer, Amazon is planning to open specialised warehouses in Patna and Guwahati to facilitate improved delivery channels in the region.
The retail giant also looks forward to open more fulfillment centres in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai to expand its delivery channels and therefore tap the potential markets. These extension plans are expected to induce faster delivery across India.
The fulfillment centres will be programmed with specialised and highly automated pick, pack and shipping processes to ensure safe and timely processing and completion of orders.
Akhil Saxena, Amazon Vice President, Customer Fulfillment – Asia, told PTI, “We are happy to announce the expansion of our specialised network. We consistently invest in our infrastructure and delivery network to provide a superior experience to both customers and sellers. With this expansion, more customers will get faster deliveries in line with our vision of convenience and our commitment to lead with infrastructure.”
Continuously adding more sellers to the list, Amazon is enhancing its storage capacity for operational efficiency in India. It currently has over 50 fulfillment centres in 13 states including cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur and Bengaluru. The business has also committed to invest US $ 5 billion for expanding its operations in India.
