Mass hiring in America!

You heard it right! Amazon is organising job fairs across the country next week. The company, through this fair, intends to increase its workforce by 30,000 by early next year.

The job fairs, called ‘Amazon Career Day’, will be held on 17 September at Arlington in Virginia (home to its upcoming second headquarters), Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville and its hometown Seattle.

There will also be a dedicated website to enable easier access to information and registration.

Through these job fairs, Amazon is looking at recruiting all workers, from software engineers to warehouse staff. Earlier this year, Amazon announced a programme to get more employees enrolled in tech jobs, promising to retrain 100,000 workers with new skills.

In a statement, Jeff Bezos, CEO and Founder, Amazon, said “I encourage anyone willing to think big and move fast to apply for a job with us. You’ll get to invent and see Amazon making even bolder bets on behalf of our customers.”

At the job fairs next week, about 1,000 recruiters will help candidates apply for positions, prepare them for job interviews and give them more information on the roles.

Amazon already has more than 650,000 employees worldwide, making it the second-biggest US-based private employer after Walmart Inc.
